The Rolling Stones Return with “Hackney Diamonds”

The Rolling Stones are back in the spotlight with their latest album, “Hackney Diamonds,” their first original music release in 18 years since “A Bigger Bang” in 2005. This new album is already being praised as their best work in four decades, a significant milestone for the legendary rock band.

While their 2016 album “Blue & Lonesome,” a collection of blues covers, received respectable reviews, it failed to captivate some fans, including myself, particularly due to Mick Jagger’s vocal performance. However, “Hackney Diamonds” marks a return to form, blending the classic Stones’ sound with a contemporary twist.

The album’s promotion kicked off with a lively launch party in New York City, featuring a notable performance with Lady Gaga on the track “Sweet Sounds Of Heaven.” This collaboration, a result of sharing a recording studio, echoes their previous partnership during the Stones’ 50 and Counting tour. Lady Gaga’s contribution to the song has drawn comparisons to Merry Clayton’s iconic vocals in “Gimme Shelter,” with the track receiving praise for its powerful vocal interplay between Gaga and Jagger.
