On June 6, 2023, 17-year-old Indonesian singer Putri Ariani performed a remarkable audition on America’s Got Talent (AGT). Her passionate and vocal performance enthralled the audience and judges, especially Simon Cowell, who asked an encore. Her first U.S. debut showcased a skill that could have gone undiscovered without AGT.

Her audition included her voice and tale. Putri wants to attend Juilliard School of Music through AGT despite being blind since birth. Her performance of Elton John’s “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word” and her own song was outstanding.

After winning Indonesia’s Got Talent at age 8, Putri was a finalist on The Voice Kids Indonesia. Her Indonesian version of a Mandarin song, “Tak Mampu Lupa,” has over 12 million YouTube views. Self-taught, she plays numerous instruments and performed well on AGT, making her a formidable candidate.

“My biggest challenge is people look at me as a blind person, not a musician,” Putri said. But singing makes me feel like a celebrity.” She wants to attend Julliard after AGT. Watch her growth on YouTube and her website.
