68-Year-Old Matt Dodd Wows on Ireland’s Got Talent with Tom Jones Classic

Matt Dodd, a 68-year-old contestant, captivated the audience on Ireland’s Got Talent with his powerful rendition of Tom Jones’ “I (Who Have Nothing).” Dressed in a classy suit, Dodd’s timeless voice displayed both strength and smoothness, leaving a lasting impression on the judges and audience alike.

Dodd, who is not a professional singer, showcased his commanding stage presence, keeping the audience engaged and building up to a dramatic finale. His audition has become one of the most viewed videos on the Ireland’s Got Talent YouTube channel, with over 8.1 million views.

Before his performance, Dodd shared that he works at a Ballyfermot adult day care centre, where he enjoys singing to seniors on the bus each morning. He decided to audition for the show after one of his grandchildren encouraged him during a family lunch.

Judge Louis Walsh praised Dodd’s voice, expressing surprise that he wasn’t already a star. Michelle Visage also commended his natural talent, noting the rarity of his gift. In the semi-final, Dodd showcased his versatility by performing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Love Changes Everything,” opting for a different musical style.
