While witnessing Lisette Oropesa, opera student Liu Jianwei observed there was no male singer for Sempre libera. The 24-year-old student delivered the tenor solo from the audience, dazzling Oropesa and going viral.

Cuban-American singer Oropesa sang her fourth encore with wonderful pipes and stage flair. When no one sung the male tenor part’s initial line, Liu sang the verse beautifully from the second line. The Teatro Regio di Parma in Parma, Italy, hosted this spontaneous duet, which has 2.6 million views.

The audience sang the tenor part, which surprised Oropesa, but she was delighted Liu was there to finish the arrangement and told him to continue. She said “oh grazie!” and had her palms on her heart while the great student sang.

Italian opera student Liu studies in the Conservatorio Giuseppe Nicolini di Piacenza. Fearing impoliteness, he apologized to Oropesa after the show. She enjoyed meeting him and took a picture and autograph with the little star. Oropesa sang Sempre libera with a tenor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin Grand Opera Gala below!
