NEW YORK AND DE NIRO

De Niro expounded on his affiliation with New York in a 2015 interview with Cigar Aficionado, saying, “I am a New Yorker.” There are so many things in New York that are exclusive to the city. People from all across the nation and the world come here to find themselves.

It’s a place where you can discover who you are, remain anonymous, or join a community, he continued. The reason I like New York is its seasons. You drive everywhere in L.A., and the city is too dispersed. Simply put, the experience is different. My home is in New York. I would prefer to remain here.

De Niro’s words and deeds demonstrate his strong bond with New York City and his attempts to uplift and reinvigorate it.
