Numerous people have attempted to mimic Elvis Presley, but none of them can really match the original. Or is it possible?
The judges on The Voice were moved the moment Dakota Striplin took the stage and started singing the timeless hit song Love Me Tender.
But they were astounded by more than just his voice. The judges almost fell out of their seats when Dakota dropped a bombshell after his performance.
A young man with a lot of charisma made an appearance on The Voice Australia a few years ago. When Dakota Striplin, 24, performed Elvis Presley’s 1956 ballad “Love Me Tender,” he stole the show. It was eerily similar to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Dakota resembled the legendary performer in many ways, including having the same hairstyle, a unique jawline, and, most importantly, a golden voice.
His eyebrows and nose even mirrored those of Elvis. Dakota’s smooth, honeyed voice enthralled the audience during the performance, and he also displayed his guitar prowess, which gave his performance an emotional touch. It was not surprising that the audience erupted in applause; many probably believed they were seeing Elvis Presley’s grandson perform live.
The judges were equally impressed. Two of them had already turned their chairs and pressed their buttons before Dakota had finished the first verse. Guy Sebastian, the third judge, would later come to regret his last-minute hesitation before pressing his button.
However, what about the Elvis Presley connection? The resemblance between Dakota and Elvis is evident when comparing side-by-side photographs. And when Dakota disclosed that he might be the King’s grandson, the mystery grew even more complex.
“I loved Elvis all my life.” I looked up to him since I was a child. But my dad just recently learned that his dad wasn’t really his dad, and my grandma and I have a long history together. Dakota said, “She worked at Elvis concerts and seemed to know him.”
There are people who look a lot like Elvis from time to time, but they rarely have more than a striking physical resemblance. Elvis only had one grandson, and Benjamin looked just like the King.
But Dakota Striplin showed he is very talented, even if he is related to the singer. I’m sure Elvis would have liked how he sang the classic ’50s hit. After that, Dakota performed a number of other songs, including a lively version of The Lion King’s “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King.” Check out the video below to see for yourself how great he was.
