Craig Morgan’s Emotional Tribute to His Late Son on The Kelly Clarkson Show
Country singer Craig Morgan touched hearts during his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, performing his poignant ballad “The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost.” The song, written in memory of his son Jerry Greer who tragically passed away in a tubing accident at 19, moved both the host Kelly Clarkson and guests Eva Mendes and Blake Shelton to tears.
Morgan, 55, shared his ongoing grief with Clarkson, 37, explaining that the loss feels as fresh as yesterday. He described the songwriting process as therapeutic, helping him keep his son’s presence alive in their lives.
Blake Shelton, 43, a long-time friend of Morgan’s, also expressed how the song resonated with him, especially since he and Gwen Stefani had attended Jerry’s funeral. Shelton praised the song’s universal appeal and its particular impact due to his personal connection with Morgan’s family.
In September, Shelton used his platform to support Morgan’s song, urging fans to elevate it on the iTunes chart. He expressed his willingness to sacrifice his own spot on country radio to ensure the song received the attention it deserved.
