George Strait’s #1 hit song “Carrying Your Love With Me” is covered by Kelly Clarkson as a tribute in her song “Kellyoke.”
A few years ago, Kelly Clarkson honored George Strait, dubbed “The King of Country,” by having the well-liked “Kellyoke” part of her talk show. Fans were mesmerized by her rendition of his hit song, “You Look So Good in Love,” which she covered.
Ever since, fans have been anticipating whether Clarkson would perform a different Strait song on her talk program.
At last, over three years thereafter, Clarkson paid tribute to Strait with a brand-new “Kellyoke” performance. This time, she chose to cover “Carrying Your Love with Me,” his 1997 #1 hit song.
Writing “Carrying Your Love with Me” were Jeff Stevens and Steve Bogard. The song was made available as the second single from Strait’s eponymous album.
It peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs list with “Carrying Your Love with Me.” On the 1997 Country Songs year-end chart, it came in at number three. In 2022, the RIAA certified the song twice platinum.
In addition, Strait received a Grammy nomination for the song in the 1998 Grammy Awards’ Best Male Country Vocal Performance category. In the end, Vince Gill took home the prize for “Pretty Little Adriana.”
