A Heartfelt Tribute: Art Garfunkel and Son Honor The Everly Brothers

In 2019, Art Garfunkel, famed for his role in the iconic folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel, graced the stage alongside his son, James Garfunkel, for a poignant musical tribute. Together, they performed touching renditions of ‘Devoted To You’ and ‘Let It Be Me’ by The Everly Brothers, celebrating the legacy of Phil Everly, who passed away in 2014.

James, born in 1990, has frequently performed with his father since a young age, including a notable appearance at the US Open Tennis Tournament when he was just twelve years old. Their 2019 performances were part of Art Garfunkel’s tour that spanned across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany, from January to November.

The songs ‘Devoted To You’ and ‘Let It Be Me’ were chosen for their significance and popularity as hits from the 1950s and 1960s, beautifully encapsulating the soulful harmony and timeless appeal of The Everly Brothers. The tour not only highlighted Art Garfunkel’s enduring talent but also showcased the musical synergy between father and son, making each performance a deeply personal homage to a bygone era of music.
