Arlene & The Vantastix: Dick Van Dyke and His Wife’s Musical Duo

Arlene & The Vantastix is a musical group featuring the legendary actor and performer Dick Van Dyke and his wife, Arlene Silver. Van Dyke, a prominent figure in American entertainment for over 65 years, is known for his work in radio, stage, television, and film. Arlene Silver, a makeup artist, met Van Dyke at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2006 and later worked for him before their romance blossomed following the passing of Van Dyke’s second wife.

The couple shares a love for singing and dancing, which plays a significant role in their relationship. This is showcased in their delightful and entertaining video performance of “Everybody Loves a Lover.” The song, originally recorded by Doris Day, was later rearranged by the Shirelles in 1962. However, Arlene & The Vantastix chose to follow Day’s original version, fitting their barbershop quartet style established by Van Dyke in 2000. Arlene’s sassy and sparkling rendition, accompanied by a finger-popping groove, highlights the duo’s musical talent and chemistry.
