The 17-year-old *America’s Got Talent* cheerleader Emily Gold has passed away. “On September 16, our beautiful, kind, and loving Emily Gold passed away,” her high school dance team posted on Instagram. “It is with such a heavy heart that we share her passing.”
Recently, Gold and her group competed on *America’s Got Talent*; they advanced to the quarterfinals but were eliminated. The team received a standing ovation from Judge Simon Cowell, who praised their performance as “absolutely brilliant.”
Additionally, Gold will be “remembered as a leader, role model, friend, and sister to her teammates,” according to the Southern California high school organization. Gold was selected as one of the three captains for the following academic year last month.
We miss you more than words can ever say and we love you unconditionally, our dear sweet Emily. The message concluded, “Everything we do is for you, our beautiful angel 🤍.”
“Your family is receiving an abundance of love, prayers, and thoughts from us. We recall our lengthy days spent together practicing gymnastics. On the page, a user commented, “Those trips to Vegas.” She will be sorely missed. I hope she rests in peace and that you can all find solace in one another’s arms. We are here for you and we love you. ❤️.
On Monday, the San Bernardino Coroner’s Office verified that Gold took his own life.
One month after Gold and her dance team made an appearance on America’s Got Talent, news of her passing has surfaced. The entertainers advanced to the quarterfinals but lost in August. Judge Simon Cowell gave the dancers a standing ovation after their tearful exit.
“It was just fantastic,” 64-year-old Cowell said to the group. “First and foremost, I adored this for its energy. What I just witnessed, in my opinion, embodies all that a great school ought to stand for: fostering friendship and talent.
Cowell continued, saying that “every kid should go to a school like that” and that their performance made him think of High School Musical.
Gold raved about the competition series audition process back in May.
“WE CONducted an audit! We couldn’t have done it without @rachelmuego and @kylee.kam, and this has been the most amazing experience,” she posted on Instagram in May. “I am so grateful to you both for building and leading the most amazing family🤍.”
