On Thursday night, September 12, America’s Got Talent concluded with the semifinal round. The remaining 12 acts were waiting to find out if they had made it to the grand final the following week, based on the results of the viewer vote.
There were only six seats available because four performers had already advanced from the live event Golden Buzzers. The Spanish aerial couple Sebastián & Sonia, the dance ensemble Airfootworks, vocalist Dee Dee Simon, and the Hakuna Matata Acrobats are among those performing.
Twelve other performers, including middle school janitor Richard Goodall, who dazzled the judges at the auditions with an amazing rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” were left to the mercy of the public vote. On Wednesday, September 11, Goodall once again dazzled with an impassioned rendition of Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger.”
For Goodall fans, it turned out to be an extremely dramatic and tense evening. Dance group Brent Street, comedian Learnmore Jonasi, quick-change artist Solange Kardinaly, dog act Roni Sagi & Rhythm, 10-year-old singer Pranysqa Mishra, aerialist Kelsey Jane, teenage singer Reid Wilson, magician Young-Min, Canadian singer Alex Sampson, and country trio Ashes & Arrows were among the other acts vying for a spot in the semi-finals.
Host Terry Crews announced who had advanced to the final by calling the performances out in pairs throughout the evening. First up was Roni Sagi & Rhythm and Pranysqa Mishra. Crews revealed that Roni Sagi & Rhythm had been voted by the viewers to advance to the final.
Kelsey Jane and Sky Elements were next, with Sky Elements—drone experts—advancing to the championship match. Learnmore Jonasi, who defeated Reid Wilson to secure a spot in the final, came next.
After that, Solange Kardinaly beat out Young-Min, and Australian dance group Brent Street defeated Alex Sampson.
That meant that Richard Goodall and Ashes & Arrows were separated by just one slot. After a torturous wait, fan favorite Goodall eventually garnered enough votes to go to the grand final.
Richard Goodall, a singer, a quick-change artist, a drone act, Sky Elements, comedian Learnmore Jonasi, dance group Brent Street, dog act Roni Sagi & Rhythm, aerial duo Sebastián & Sonia, the Hakuna Matata Acrobats, singer Dee Dee Simon, and dance group Airfootworks are the ten acts that will compete in next week’s grand final.
